Overview

Rocky Mountain Institute works with corporations, communities, and citizens to help them gain competitive advantage, increase profits, and create a higher standard of living through resource efficiency. In 1991, RMI launched Green Development Services (GDS) to enable architects, developers, and other real estate professionals to integrate energy-efficient and environmentally responsive design into projects.

Through its consulting and writing, GDS demonstrates how to develop buildings and communities that are more profitable to build (or retrofit), less expensive to run, healthier and more comfortable to occupy, and more productive to work in.

Green Development Services served as lead technical advisor in the "greening" of the White House; worked with Four Times Square to develop and implement environmentally responsible strategies and performance based fees for this Manhattan skyscraper; assisted Habitat for Humanity International with integrating resource efficiency into its affordable housing; worked with the international developer Hines to develop a modern building prototype; helped create a winning bid to build an energy-efficient solar village for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games; and consulted on dozens of other projects.

Green Development Services makes its experiences and expertise more widely available through a line of books, reports, and other informative products. All of these can be ordered from Rocky Mountain Institute's website.
